Hydrolyzed DNA (Medex-PDRN):

“PDRN”, which stands for “PolyDeoxyRiboNucleotide”, is derived from DNA and is known for its remarkable effects on the skin. Whilst PDRN is often associated with “salmon sperm”, i.e. DNA from salmon, there is also a plant-based variant: Vegan PDRN.

Medex-PDRN is a highly effective form of vegan PDRN and offers various benefits. In vitro results show a much stronger effect than with animal-derived PDRN. A key reason for this is the smaller molecular size of Medex-PDRN: approximately 18 kDa compared to approximately 73 kDa for animal-derived PDRN. This is because Medex-PDRN consists of hydrolysed DNA, meaning that the smaller “cut-up” fractions penetrate the skin more effectively and can exert their effects more deeply and efficiently. Medex-PDRN is also up to 80 per cent more moisturising than PDRN derived from ‘salmon sperm’. Furthermore, Medex-PDRN is animal-friendly and poses no risk of fish allergy, as it is 100 per cent vegan.

The powerful regenerative effect of Medex-PDRN lies primarily in its ability to promote specific types of the body’s own collagen, such as Collagen 3, which creates a fine-meshed and elastic fibre structure, and Collagen 16, which binds other types of collagen together, thereby stabilising the extracellular matrix.

Artemisia capillaris is the plant from the Aster family from which Vegan PDRN is extracted. This plant is also known in traditional Chinese medicine as ‘Yin Chen’.
